Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

1. Service Description

RunClaw is an AI agent hosting platform that deploys and manages AI agents (including OpenClaw, Agent Zero, and Goose) on dedicated virtual private server (VPS) infrastructure. Each customer receives their own isolated server -- no shared resources, no multi-tenancy.

RunClaw operates as a control plane for self-hosted AI agents. You keep ownership of the infrastructure account and server; RunClaw handles provisioning coordination, URLs, monitoring, updates, and management workflows.

RunClaw supports three setup paths:

  • Provision on Hetzner: RunClaw creates a new VPS in your Hetzner Cloud account. Your Hetzner API token is stored in your browser using PBKDF2+AES-256-GCM encryption and is never sent to RunClaw's servers. Hetzner API calls are made directly from your browser.
  • Provision on Vultr: RunClaw creates a new VPS in your Vultr account. Your Vultr API key is encrypted in your browser. Because Vultr's API does not support browser CORS, API requests are forwarded through a stateless RunClaw proxy -- the key transits server memory but is never stored or logged.
  • Connect existing server over SSH: You attach an Ubuntu server you already control. No cloud provider account is needed.

RunClaw also offers an invite-only managed hosting path where the platform provisions infrastructure on your behalf. See the Managed Hosting section below for details.

2. Account Registration

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old to use RunClaw. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

3. Beta Period and Billing

RunClaw is currently in a free beta. There is no RunClaw platform fee during the beta period. Infrastructure costs (Hetzner, Vultr, or your existing server) and AI provider costs (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, etc.) remain your responsibility and are billed by those providers directly.

Pricing for RunClaw's platform will be communicated before the beta concludes. Features, tier definitions, and pricing are subject to change.

4. Acceptable Use

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Violations of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in suspension or termination of your account.

5. Your Data and Responsibility Split

RunClaw is built on a principle of infrastructure ownership: your server belongs to you (or to your cloud provider account), and the data on it is your responsibility.

You own and are responsible for:

  • Your cloud provider account, server lifecycle, and infrastructure bill (Hetzner, Vultr, or your existing server)
  • All data on your VPS: AI agent conversations, configurations, memory, files, and backups
  • Compliance with your cloud provider's terms of service
  • AI provider costs and compliance with their terms

RunClaw operates the control-plane layer:

  • Provisioning coordination, DNS setup, and agent URL management
  • Dashboard monitoring (system-level metrics: CPU, memory, disk)
  • Agent update workflows and sidecar connectivity
  • Optional management features (logs, terminal, workspace, and configuration relay) that operate on your request

Privacy and access boundaries:

  • Cloud provider tokens (Hetzner, Vultr) are encrypted in your browser and never stored on RunClaw's servers. RunClaw stores only one-way SHA-256 hashes for verification.
  • Setup-time secrets (access gate token, optional LLM keys) are temporarily sent to RunClaw during provisioning so they can be injected into your server. LLM keys are encrypted at rest and deleted after setup completes.
  • Management features (logs, terminal, workspace file access, configuration updates) relay content through the RunClaw control plane when you use them. RunClaw does not continuously inspect your server content.

6. Infrastructure Ownership

Self-hosted paths (Hetzner, Vultr, SSH)

  • Your server belongs to your cloud provider account or is a machine you already control. If you cancel RunClaw or delete your account, your servers are unaffected. RunClaw will disconnect its sidecar agent and remove database records, but your server and all data on it remain under your control.
  • You are responsible for the maintenance, security, backups, and availability of your servers.

Managed Hosting

  • Managed servers are provisioned in RunClaw's cloud provider account. RunClaw retains administrative capability on managed instances for operational purposes. RunClaw reserves the right to deprovision managed instances upon termination of your account or violation of the Acceptable Use Policy, with reasonable notice.
  • You are responsible for backing up any data you wish to preserve before termination. A 30-day data export window is provided upon account termination.

7. Content Responsibility

RunClaw does not continuously monitor, inspect, or analyze content on VPS instances. System-level metrics (CPU, memory, disk) are collected by the sidecar for your dashboard. Management features (logs, terminal, workspace, config) relay content only when you initiate them.

You are solely responsible for content generated by your AI agents and for ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RunClaw and its operators, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Content generated by AI agents running on your infrastructure
  • Your violation of the Acceptable Use Policy
  • Your use of third-party services (LLM providers, Hetzner, Vultr, or other infrastructure providers)
  • Your breach of applicable laws or regulations

RunClaw's total aggregate liability under these Terms shall not exceed the total fees you have paid to RunClaw in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RunClaw shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue arising from your use of the Service.

RunClaw is not responsible for:

  • Content generated by AI agents running on your infrastructure
  • Your compliance with LLM provider terms of service (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.)
  • Data loss on your VPS due to hardware failure, misconfiguration, or any other cause
  • Third-party service outages (Hetzner, Vultr, Stripe, Cloudflare, LLM providers)

The Service is provided "as-is" and "as-available" during the beta period without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

10. Service Availability

RunClaw is in beta. There is no SLA. The platform may experience unscheduled downtime, interruptions, or degraded performance without prior notice. VPS availability depends on the underlying infrastructure provider and your server configuration.

Service status is available at status.runclaw.run.

11. Termination

By you: You may cancel your account at any time. Upon account deletion, RunClaw will remove your data from its systems and disconnect sidecar agents. Self-hosted servers are unaffected. Managed servers will be deprovisioned after a 30-day data export window.

By RunClaw: We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. We will provide reasonable notice when possible, except in cases of severe violations (illegal content, active attacks, imminent harm) requiring immediate action.

12. Force Majeure

RunClaw shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, war, terrorism, government actions, pandemic, infrastructure provider outages, internet disruptions, or power failures.

13. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of RunClaw shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, followed by binding arbitration if necessary. The governing jurisdiction will be updated when our entity registration is complete.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users via email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of RunClaw after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
